In what is believed to be the first-ever meeting between the two teams, Salem University plays host to Cheyney University in NCAA Division II women's basketball Monday at T. Edwards Gymnasium. Tip-off is 6 p.m. and will be followed by Tiger men's basketball vs. Cheyney.

Salem (3-12) is coming off a 99-68 loss Wednesday at Ohio Dominican University. The Tigers sliced a 16-point deficit down to single digits in the third quarter, but a 22-6 ODU scoring run broke the game open.
Daniela Quesada led Salem with 17 points.

The Tigers are hoping for back-to-back home wins. Salem opened the New Year with a 92-72 win over Davis & Elkins January 2.

Cheyney (2-10) played host to College of Southern Maryland Saturday.

Based on year-by-year results on the NCAA Career Records website dating back to the early 1990's, there are no records of Salem and Cheyney having faced each other in women's basketball.

Monday's game is the first of three consecutive home contests over the span of 11 days for Salem. The Tigers play host to Ursuline College Saturday afternoon and then entertain Ohio Valley University January 23.
