Salem University suffered its first home loss of the season Saturday as the Tigers fell to Davis & Elkins College 158-95 in NCAA Division II women's swimming Saturday at Salem Pool.
Marta Gruszczynska paced the Tigers with two individual wins and a relay win.

Gruszczynska helped stake Salem (2-3) to an early lead, combining with
Lauren Platz,
Veronica Bolibaugh and
Chloe Smart for a win in the 200 yard medley relay to open the meet. Gruszczynska also took first place in the 200 yard breast and the 100 yard fly.

In addition to the relay, Platz and Smart posted individual wins. Platz took home the 100 yard backstroke and finished second in the 200 yard backstroke. Smart won the 100 yard freestyle and earned runner-up finishes in the 200 and 500 yard freestyle.

Danni Lewis edged out Bolibaugh to win the 50 yard freestyle.

Davis & Elkins (6-1) won four of the final six events.

Saturday's meet was the Tigers' first competition since the ECAC Championships in early December.

Salem heads to Bethany, W.Va., Friday to face Bethany College and Frostburg State University. The Tigers play host to West Virginia Wesleyan College next Saturday.
