Salem University plays its first-ever women's water polo contests as a nationally-ranked team as the Tigers are in Erie, Pa., for the Mercyhurst Invite. Salem plays four games against Division I opponents: today against La Salle University (12:30 p.m.) and Virginia Military Institute (7 p.m.) and Sunday against Siena College (9:15 a.m.) and nationally 23rd-ranked Bucknell University (2:15 p.m.)

Salem (6-2) was listed among Others Receiving Votes and tied at No. 28 in this week's CWPA Women's Water Polo Top 25. The Tigers are one of only four non-Division I schools included in the poll and is the lone ranked Division II school from outside of California.

The Tigers posted wins over Gannon University and Long Island University to finish with a 2-2 mark at last weekend's Bucknell Invite.
Courtney O'Shaughnessy scored the game-winning goal with 28 seconds left in sudden death in Salem's 15-14 victory over Long Island.

Three of this weekend's games are rematches, two from this season and one from last season. Salem defeated La Salle University 18-9 two weeks ago at the La Salle Invite and fell to Bucknell 14-10 last week. The Tigers fell to VMI 13-12 at last year's Mercyhurst Invite.

La Salle enters this weekend with a 3-4 record, while Bucknell is 6-1 and Siena has a 1-3 mark. The Mercyhurst Invite marks VMI's season opener.

Salem will make its fourth straight trip to the Keystone State next weekend as the Tigers compete in the Washington and Jefferson Invite.
