Margherita Garibbo and
Annefleur ten Bloemendal each scored five goals and Salem University eclipsed the 20-goal mark for the second time in four games as the Tigers concluded play in the Washington and Jefferson Women's Water Polo Invitational with a 25-8 victory over Penn State University-Behrend Sunday at Washington, Pa. Garribo also had eight assists, while ten Bloemendal recorded five steals.

In Sunday's opener, Salem rallied from a first-half three-goal deficit, but Gannon University pulled away in overtime for a 14-12 win over the Tigers. Salem posted a 2-2 mark at the tournament with both losses coming in overtime.

Salem (9-7) needed just 14 seconds to get on the scoreboard as ten Bloemendal put the Tigers ahead to stay. Salem led 6-2 after one period and extended the lead to 10-3 at halftime as
Erin Zappia and ten Bloemendal scored goals just 39 seconds apart late in the half.

The margin reached double figures when
Maryanna Antoniou's goal with 3:42 left in the third period pushed the lead to 15-5. One day after scoring 26 goals against Washington and Jefferson College, the Tigers reached 20 goals again as
Beatrice Popescu's goal with five seconds left in the third period made the score 20-5.

Elizabeth Elliott completed an 11-0 scoring run and gave Salem a 23-5 lead with 2:43 left to play.

Popescu, Zappia and
Courtney O'Shaughnessy added four goals apiece for the Tigers.
Philippa Piper recorded 14 saves in goal.

Salem trailed Gannon 3-0 and had to play from behind throughout most of regulation. A goal by
Annefleur ten Bloemendal with exactly three minutes left in the third period tied the contest for the first time at 8-8. The two teams traded goals until another goal by ten Bloemendal gave the Tigers their lead of the game at 12-11 with 2:39 left in regulation.

The Tiger defense stopped Gannon on its next two possessions, but the Knights scored with 17 seconds left in regulation to send the game into overtime. Gannon scored in each of the two overtime periods to seal the win.

Garibbo shared game-high honors with four goals, while ten Bloemendal added three goals and Zappia had four assists. Piper recorded eight saves for the Tigers.

Salem makes its fifth straight trip to Pennsylvania next weekend as the Tigers compete in the Grove City Invite. The Tigers open play Friday against tournament host Grove City College, followed by their third meeting of the season against Virginia Military Institute. Salem concludes tournament play Saturday against Mercyhurst University.
