Salem University plays its third of five consecutive away games this evening as the Tigers travel to Cheyney, Pa., for a rematch against Cheyney University in NCAA Division II women's basketball. Tip-off is 5:30 p.m. and is the opening game of a doubleheader with Tiger men's basketball against Cheyney.

Salem (5-14) sliced a 22-point first-half deficit down to two points in the fourth quarter before falling to University of the District of Columbia 68-64 Wednesday at Washington, D.C.Â
Nia Bishop led the Tigers with 14 points, while
Endia Jones pulled down a career-high 17 rebounds.

The Tigers rank 12th in the nation in scoring offense with 80.3 points per contest. Salem also ranks third in the nation with exactly 11.0 three-point field goals made per game. The Tigers are the only NCAA II women's basketball team in the nation to hit at least 20 three-point field goals in more than one game this season. Salem achieved the feat in back-to-back games: January 13 against Cheyney (20 3fg) and January 23 against Ohio Valley University (21 3fg).

Salem won the first meeting over Cheyney 115-71 at T. Edward Davis Gymnasium. The Tigers saw a 21-3 lead cut to a single point in the second quarter before pulling away in the second half.

Salem is idle the remainder of this week, then has away games next week at Seton Hill and Ohio Valley. The Tigers' next home game is February 17 against Alderson-Broaddus.
