Coming off a perfect start last weekend, the Salem University women's water polo team is back in the pool as the Tigers begin play tonight in the Bucknell Invite at Lewisburg, Pa. The Tigers open tonight at 8:15 p.m. against tournament host and nationally 23rd-ranked Bucknell University in a battle of unbeatens.

After tonight's contest, Salem takes on George Washington University and Gannon University Saturday. The Tigers conclude play Sunday against Long Island University.

Salem (4-0) went unbeaten against four Division I opponents last weekend, opening with a 15-9 victory at Villanova University and posting three straight wins against St. Francis College (N.Y.), George Washington and La Salle University at the La Salle Invite. The Tigers never allowed more than 10 goals and held three opponents to single digits.

Philippa Piper recorded 50 saves in four games and was named WWPA Player of the Week.
Annefleur ten Bloemendal led Salem offensively with 13 goals and 11 assists, while
Margherita Garibbo added 12 goals and eight assists to go with seven steals. Garibbo scored six goals in the Tigers' 18-9 win over La Salle.

Bucknell (4-0) went unbeaten in the Bruno Classic, including a 16-12 win over No. 24 Marist College. Salem fell to Bucknell 14-4 last season, but tied the Bison 8-8 this past fall.

Saturday will see a rematch of Salem's closest game from last weekend, an 11-10 decision over George Washington (1-3).
Courtney O'Shaughnessy scored the winning goal with 43 seconds remaining and Piper made a pair of saves in the final minute. All three of the Colonial losses last weekend were by two goals or fewer.

Gannon (0-0) is opening its 2020 season this weekend. Salem fell to the Knights 12-7 last year in the two teams' lone meeting.

Long Island (1-3) also competed in the Bruno Invite last weekend. Sunday's contest will be the Tigers' first meeting against LIU.

The Tigers will make their third consecutive trip to the Keystone State next weekend at the Mercyhurst Invite.
