Courtney O'Shaughnessy scored two goals in a span of 34 seconds during a third-period 4-0 run to put Salem University ahead to stay and the Tigers held on for a 13-12 victory over national poll vote-getter Brown University Saturday in the Harvard Invite at Cambridge, Mass., in women's water polo. O'Shaughnessy shared team-high honors with
Chloe Woodbine with three goals and led all players with four steals.

The Tigers settled for a split on the day after falling to Siena College 15-13. Woodbine shared game-high honors with five goals.

In the opener, Salem (12-9) trailed 7-6 in the third period before
Beatrice Popescu's goal with 4:07 remaining evened the score. O'Shaughnessy put Salem on top with just under three minutes left and then scored again with 2:23 remaining to give the Tigers two-goal lead.
Annefleur ten Bloemendal assisted on all three goals.

Maryanna Antoniou's goal with 45 seconds left capped the run and extended the Tigers' lead to 10-7 entering the final period.

Brown ended Salem's run in the opening minute of the final period, but Woodbine answered with a pair of goals to give the Tigers their biggest lead at 12-8 with 5:16 left to play.
Erin Zappia answered a Brown goal with a penalty shot to keep the margin at four. A save by
Philippa Piper and a steal by O'Shaughnessy in the final two minutes helped Salem withstand a late rally.

Zappia led all players with four assists, while Piper finished with eight saves.

Brown entered Saturday's contest as the 27th-highest vote getter in this week's CWPA Top 25 Poll. The Bears have received votes in every regular season poll in 2020.

Against Siena, the Tigers rallied from a 10-8 deficit in the final 93 seconds of the third period as ten Bloemendal tied the game with a power play goal and a penalty shot. Popescu's goal with 28 seconds left put Salem on top, but Siena scored 10 seconds later to send the contest into the fourth period tied 11-11.

Woodbine answered a Siena goal early in the final period, but the Saints scored three unanswered goals to take the lead for good. Woodbine scored the game's final goal with two seconds remaining.

Piper recorded eight saves in goal, while ten Bloemendal finished with three goals and three assists. Zappia also had three assists.

Salem wraps up play in the Harvard Invite with two games Sunday. The Tigers take on Iona College at 11:45 a.m. and face No. 25 Cal State University-East Bay at 3:30 p.m. in a rematch of the first round of the 2019 WWPA Tournament.
