Cambridge, MA – Salem University men's water polo went 2-2 over the weekend at the Harvard Invitational to move to 9-11 on the season.
Game one
The Tigers started the first day of play strong with a 13-8 win over Massachusetts Institute of Technology. Ivan Zivojinovic led the Tigers with four goals and four assists followed by Petar Leontijevic with four goals and one assist. Nikolas Krstonosic put in three goals with two assists and Chad Rowley rounded out the scoring with two goals and one assist. Goalkeeper Julen Alonso contributed 14 saves on the day.
Game two
The Tigers fell to Brown University 19-5 with only five Tigers scoring: Krstonosic, Manuel Soto Estela and Leontijevic each with one goal and one assist, and Rowley and Zivojinovic with one. Goncalo Silva had four saves in game two.
Game three
The Tigers came away with the 13-3 victory over Connecticut College with Zivojinovic and Estela leading the way with three goals each. Blake Wind and Mike Diaz netted two with Leontijevic and Reabetswe Theledi each having one. Krstonosic had five assists and Duarte Costa came away with 17 saves.
Game four
The Tigers dropped the final game of the weekend to #13 Harvard University 14-8. Zivojinovic scored three for the Tigers with two assists. Krstonosic and Rowley had two apiece and Leontijevic with one goal and two assists. Alonso collected ten saves on the second day.
Up next
The Tigers will be back in action next weekend competing in the CWPA Division II Championship in Erie, PA. The Tigers first game will be against Mercyhurst University on October 23rd at 5:40 p.m.
