Salem, WV – Salem University Volleyball went the distance in a five-set victory over Bluefield State on Tuesday.

How It Happened

• The Tigers found themselves down early in set one 10-8 before scoring three, with the go ahead point off of an ace by Tahnee Gerard.
• The Big Blues quickly took back the lead and maintained it for the remainder of the set.
• The Tigers bounced back in the second set scoring five consecutive points to jump out to a 11-5 lead.
• A kill from Yesenia Munoz secured the second set for the Tigers 25-22.
• The Tigers were down majority of the third set until a late six-point run put them on top 24-22.
• The Big Blues answered back with two points to tie it up before the Tigers would score the final two points to come away with the set, 26-24.
• Bluefield State took the fourth set 25-17 to force a fifth deciding set.
• Despite the Big Blues striking first, the Tigers fought back and took the 5-2 lead.
• The Tigers expanded that lead 10-4 off of Bluefield miscue, an ace from Jordan Duncan and two kills from Anna Veryser.
• Despite a late rally attempt by the Big Blues, the Tigers took the final set of the night 15-11.
• Danielle Burns contributed a season high of 17 kills followed by Mykenzie Clyncke with 17 assists and Elise Burk with 16.
