Box Score Salem, WV – Salem University men's basketball took down Ohio Dominican University 80-70 in their first home game in the 2021-22 season.
Fonz Hale led all scorers with 20 points followed by Darius Bell who secured his second double-double of the season with 17 points and 11 rebounds. Rodney Smith contributed 16 with Tobias Howard Jr. scoring 12. The Tigers shot 72 percent from the line and 48 percent from the field.
The Tigers tied it up midway through the first half 13-13 off a midrange jumper from Smith. The Tigers later went on a 11-0 scoring run to take the 27-19 lead over the Panthers with four minutes remaining. The Tigers would maintain that lead going into the half with the 34-29 advantage over the Panthers.
Barron Tanner got the scoring started in the second half with a three to extend the Tiger lead to eight. The Tigers built a 10-point lead after Smith found Tanner who drained the three with nine minutes left. Despite the Panthers efforts, the Tigers outscored ODU 12-6 in the final three minutes to take the 80-70 victory.
