Fairmont, WV – Salem University Swimming competed at Fairmont State University on Friday. Both teams fell to FSU with the men's scoring 116 to the falcons 145 and the women with 110 to 140. The Tigers swam to 12 first place finishes on the day.
The women's team had six first place finishes with Jaden Welsh leading the way with three in the 50-yard freestyle (25.98), 100-yard breaststroke (1:09.27) and the 200-yard individual medley (2:15.30). Katherine Turner placed first in the 50-yard backstroke (34.50) and Sofia Castillo in the 100-yard freestyle (57.73)
The men's team also placed first in six events with Brady Samuels collecting two in the 50-yard freestyle (22.04) and 200-yard individual medley (2:07.40). Zach Bell added one in the 200-yard freestyle (1:49.36), Tadeas Neliba in the 1650-yard Freestyle (18:06.03) and Huscar Urbina in the 50-yard backstroke (26.43).
The relay team of Lauren Platz, Welsh, Castillo, and Ivani Kamidoi captured first in the 200-yard medley relay with the men's team of Huscar, Fernando Gomez, Bell, and Samuels taking first in the 400-yard freestyle relay.
