Tigers Go 1-2 on the Weekend

Salem University Volleyball competed in three games over the weekend against Kutztown University, Georgian Court University and Lincoln University. The Tigers went 1-2, extending their record to 2-10.

Friday:
  • The Tigers dropped their first two games of the weekend to Kutztown University and Georgian Court University 3-0.
  • After dropping set one to Georgian Court, the Tigers took the lead 9-6 after four consecutive points before the Lions tied it up 9-9.
  • The Lions and Tigers continued to battle tying it up 10-10, 11-11, 12-12, 14-14, 15-15, 17-17, 18-18, and 22-22 before the lions scored the final three points to take the set 25-22.
  • Despite the Tigers having a 7-4 lead at the beginning of the third set, the Lions went on to take the third set of the match to come away with the 3 – 0 victory.
Saturday:
  • The Tigers bounced back for their next day of play to come away with the 3-0 win against Lincoln University.
  • The Tigers jumped out to their largest margin of the game with a 11-4 lead in set one.
  • The Lions fought back to bring the score within one, but it was too late to stop the Tigers with Anna Veryser scoring the last point of the set with a kill.
  • The Lions took the first point of set two, but the Tigers maintained the lead the rest of the way.
  • The Tigers scored four in a row to make it 14-9 that consisted of a kill and ace by Elise Burk and two defensive miscues by the Lions.
  • A kill by Yesenia Munoz and an ace by Makhia Hinton increase the Tigers lead by three before coming away with the 25-22 set win.
  • Two kills by Danea Pettway, one from Dayana Gomez – Salgado and another by Arah Anoma led the way to the Tigers scoring six uninterrupted points to go ahead 14-9 in set three.
  • The Tigers didn't look back and took set three 25-17 for their second victory of the season.
Up Next:
The Tigers will be back in action Tuesday at Alderson Broaddus University at 7 p.m.
