ERIE, Pennsylvania - The Salem men's water polo team finished their weekend off on a high at the Penn State-Behrend Invitational weekend in Erie, Pennsylvania. Over Saturday and Sunday, Salem faced Washington & Jefferson, Penn State Behrend and Cornell who were all convincingly defeated by the Tigers.Â
Today's match against Cornell proved to be no challenge for the Salem side who came out strong in the first half scoring 13 goals to Cornell's 7. Even though Cornell gained some momentum in the second half, they couldn't catch the Tigers who finished the game 25-18. Marko Zivojinovic led the Tigers with a total of 6 goals, and Nikola Krstonosic put up 4 goals and 2 steals. Ivan Zivojinovic added 3 goals and 4 steals. Blake Wind also tallied 3 goals and Saequan Miller scored 2. Goncalo Silva added 1 goal and 5 assists for the boys and lastly, Misha Holtzkamp, Julen Alonso, Nikola Cvetkovic, James Fenner, Mitchell Griffith and Reabetswe Theledi all added one goal to the board. Â
After this weekend, Salem's men's water polo team has lots of preparation to do for their upcoming games that will be held in home territory - Morgantown, West Virginia. Saturday October 8th at 4 PM, the Tigers will take on Fordham University. Then, on Sunday the 9th, they play Wagner College at 10:20 AM and the United States Naval Academy at 3:40 pm. Salem is yet to beat any of these Division 1 teams this season, so they will be looking to go into these games as the underdogs. After a great weekend in Erie, it will be exiting to see what the Tigers bring to the table next weekend. Â
