Ann Arbor, MI – Salem University women's water polo went 1-3 over the weekend at the Wolverine Invitational in Ann Arbor, Michigan.
The Tigers opened the weekend falling to St. Francis University 8-5. Margherita Garibbo led the scoring for the Tigers with three followed by Annefleur ten Bloemendal and Erin Zappia with one a piece. Bloemendal and Camryn Cotter both came away with two steals. Philippa Piper finished game one with 11 saves in the goal.
In game two, the Tigers fell in a close matchup against Iona College 13-12. Courtney O'Shaughnessy led with four goals, Heather Lock and Zappia with two each. Bloemendal, Chloe Woodbine, Taeghen Hack and Cotter each contributing one.
The Tigers opened day two of play with a 17-9 victory over Bucknell University. Bloemendal led the Tigers with six goals followed by Woodbine with five and Zappia with two. O'Shaughnessy, Garibbo, Lock and Hack rounded out the scoring with one a piece. Piper collected the win for the Tigers with nine saves and one steal.
The Tigers finished the weekend with a 16-4 loss to the University of Michigan. The four goals came from Lock, Woodbine, Madisyn Nye and Shemiyah Ross. Piper came away with eight saves in the final game.
