Salem, WV – President Dan Finuf named Alex Joseph the next Athletic Director of Salem University on Thursday.
"Alex has been a tremendous asset to the University as both our Compliance Director and our Associate Athletic Director. His passion for the student experience both in competition and in the classroom is unquestionable." Said President Finuf. "He has earned the respect of our coaches, the entire athletic department and the university during his tenure here at Salem University. I'm excited about the continued growth of our athletic department under Alex's leadership."
Joseph first joined Salem University six years ago, serving as the Athletic Director of Compliance. Joseph was later promoted to Associate Athletic Director and Director of Compliance.
Joseph has served as interim Athletic Director for the past four months for the Tigers.
"I am honored to be named the next leader of the Tigers, I would like to thank President Finuf and the leadership of Salem University for entrusting me with this role." Said Joseph. "After working within the athletic department for the last 6 years, I am proud of the strides we have made within the department. We have a remarkable group of coaches, support staff, and most significantly student-athletes. I look forward to the future of Salem athletics."
Joseph earned his Bachelor of Science in Business Administration from Glenville State College with a specialization in Sports Management and a minor in Marketing. While attending Glenville, he was a four-year member of the Pioneer football team. Joseph later earned his Master of Business Administration in Sports and Recreational Management from Salem.
