SALEM, West Virginia - With the fall season of Tiger athletics rapidly approaching, the Salem University Athletics Department is happy to announce their approval for membership into the United States Collegiate Athletic Association.
After a thorough application process, the USCAA's Board of Directors approved Salem for membership for a 3 year term starting with the 2022-2023 academic year. This new membership will be in tandem to Salem's membership in NCAA Division II as an independent.
Salem's Athletics Director Alex Joseph had this to say about the news.
"We wish to express our thanks to the USCAA and its member institutions for the opportunity to join this impressive organization. We are excited about our future as a USCAA member. The USCAA provides expanded opportunities for postseason play and offers another outlet for our student-athletes to receive recognition for their standout performances both in athletics and in the classroom."
The USCAA is a collection of over 70 institutions, mostly small colleges, spread across the nation. The organizing body hosts 15 national championships and 2 national invitationals for its members that are spread across 8 men's and 7 women's sponsored sports. The organization is based out of Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania.
