Women’s Water Polo Goes 0-3 at Bucknell Invite

Over the past weekend women's water polo traveled to Lewisburg, PA to go head-to-head with Villanova, LIU and Saint Francis University. Unfortunately, they were unable to top each of these teams. Their first game was 7-15 to Villanova, the second game score was 4-14 to LIU and their last game on Sunday was a closer match, 10-14 to Saint Francis.
 
Villanova (7-15)
 
Salem opened up strong against Villanova tying the 1st quarter 3-3. However, the second quarter got the best of the tigers and the halftime score was 4-9 to Villanova. Salem struggled to come back, and the end score showed 7-15. Claudia Cziernawski tallied 1 goal, 2 assists and a forced turn over, Emma Halle and Iris Iris Oudshoorn both scored a goal each and had an assist each, Halle also added a drawn exclusion. Jojo DeSalvo had 3 drawn exclusions and 2 forced turnovers. Kerri Brooks, Faith Stewart and Sierra Maze all added 1 goal each and Courtney Repinz rounded out the tigers with 1 goal, 1 drawn exclusion and 2 forced turn overs.
 
LIU (4-14)
 
The second game of the day proved to be a tough one for Salem, at half time the score was 9-2 to LIU. The tigers came back slightly in the second half scoring another 2 goals to LIU's 5 showing they had tightened up their defence slightly. Senior Courtney O'Shaughnessy had 1 goal, 1 assist and 3 forced turn overs. Emma Halle scored 1 goal, drew 3 exclusions and had a forced turn over and Shemiyah Ross tallied 2 goals for the game.
 
Saint Francis University (10-14)
 
On Sunday Salem had a much closer game against St Francis University. The tigers got off to a slower start in the first quarter scoring 2 goals to SFU's 6 but they pulled back scoring 4 goals in the second quarter bringing the score to 9-6. Salem was unable to overtake SFU and the end score showed 10-14 to St. Francis. Courtney O'Shaughnessy and Kerri Brooks had two goals each in the game, Brooks also added 3 forced turn overs and 2 drawn exclusions. Emma Halle and Courtney Repinz each tallied 1 goal and 2 forced turn overs, Halle had 2 drawn exclusions and Repinz tallied 3. Shemiyah Ross had 1 goal, 2 assists, one field block and 4 forced turn overs. Claudia Cziernawski, Morgan Riordan and Jojo DeSalvo had a goal each.
 
Salem will get the chance to take on SFU again next week at the Indiana classic in Bloomington where they will also face off against Occidental College, University of Pacific and Wagner College.
