BRIDGEPORT, West Virginia – Yesterday evening women's water polo took on Grove City college on home turf at the Bridge Sports Complex, WV. This match was set up for their senior night to honor
Shemiyah Ross a senior from Trinidad and Tobago and
Courtney O'Shaughnessy a senior from South Africa. The women showed off their skills for a home crowd scoring 22 goals to Grove City's 5.
Â
In the first quarter of the game Salem opened up with an aggressive offense that scored 10 goals and Alexis Kilgore in the cage let through nothing leaving the score 10-0 at quarter time. During the second quarter Salem scored another 5 goals taking their tally to 15 and Grove City was able to put away 2. In the third quarter it became a closer match as the tigers only put away 3 goals and Grove City put up another two. However, this effort from the Pennsylvanian team was not enough to catch the monster lead that Salem created at the beginning of the game, leaving the final score 22-5.
Courtney O'Shaughnessy on her senior night led the tigers with 5 goals and 1 assist.
Shemiyah Ross tallied 3 goals and 2 assists on the night.
Keri Brooks put up 3 goals and 4 assists and

Melia Orozco each scored 2 goals. Halle added 4 assists and Orozco added 2. Two freshman rounded out the scores,
Claudia Cziernawski and
Courtney Repinz each added a goal to the board. Next weekend the tigers will travel to Erie, PA for their first round of east coast conference games.
