WHEELING, West Virginia – On Wednesday, the Salem Tigers men's and swimming teams headed north to Wheeling, West Virginia. The Tigers competed in the Wheeling Tri-Meet on Wednesday evening against Wheeling University and Washington and Jefferson College. The Tigers had some success going 1-1 in both men's and women's swimming dual.
On the women's side, the Tigers were able to go 1-1 with a 103-80 win over Washington and Jefferson College. Unfortunately, Wheeling University would go onto defeat the Salem Tigers 120-63. The top swim of the day was done by
Kiara Barnes in the 1650-yard freestyle earning first place and a score of 9.
Cheyanne Rohde was able to place second in the 50-yard freestyle. JoJo DeSalva was able to place first in the 500-yard freestyle.
On the men's side, the Tigers were able to have a 1-1 record on the day with a 116-76 win over Washington and Jefferson College. Wheeling would defeat the Tigers 98-89. The Tigers were led by
Elias Maurer who placed first in both the 200-yard freestyle and 100-yard backstroke.
Alvaro Arruga Moreno finished first in the 1650-yard freestyle.
Overall, the Tigers had some success splitting 1-1 in both the men's and women's Tri-Meet. The Tigers will be back in action on November 2
nd as they compete in the Fairmont State Tri-Meet.
