PENNSYLVANIA - This past weekend the Tigers went on the road for back-to-back matches set against Millersville University in Millersville, PA, and Mercyhurst in Erie, PA.
Â
MILLERSVILLE
Â
The duo of Brdarevic and Ziani first took the court for the Tigers in doubles play. This would be the first of two doubles matches to start the weekend for Salem. The tandem battled back and forth with Millersville, and in the end, they pulled away in the sets final moments to secure a win with a final score of 7-6. Following them for the final doubles set of the day was the partnership of Diaz and Korsakova. The two took the court and were able to get some consistent scoring against Millersville, but it was not enough and Salem lost the last doubles set 3-6.
Â
The Tigers continued to prove their worth in the singles portion of their matchup with Mercyhurst. Across five solo sets, Salem took two of them with wins from Korsakova and Ziani to make the Tigers 2-3 in singles play and 3-4 overall on the day.
Â
MERCYHURST
Â
The following day the Lady Tigers traveled to Erie, PA to take on Mercyhurst who proved to be a different animal than Millersville had been. Once again the duo of Brdarevic and Ziani took the court first for Salem in duos, but this time they were unable to recreate the success they experienced the previous day, dropping the set 2-6. Following them the same as they had the day prior was Diaz and Korsakova. Once again the Tigers were met with stern resistance from Mercyhurst and again found themselves on the wrong end of a win with a final score of 2-6.
Â
The Tigers could not find their footing in singles play and went home empty-handed after going 0-5 in solos and ending their long weekend on the road.
