SALEM, West Virginia - With summer weather now in full swing here in north central West Virginia, the Salem University men's water polo team has been hard at work in their offseason preparations as all the Tigers' programs have been of late. One big line item on that to-do list is finalizing the 2024 schedule, and Salem has just released that schedule to the public. The full 2024 fall slate breaks down as follows:
First, Salem opens the year on September 7th and 8th in Annapolis, Maryland to compete in the Navy Open where they will face off with host Navy, Johns Hopkins, WWPA West foe Biola, and George Washington.
Then, Salem returns back to the Mountain State for the first and only home weekend of the season on September 13th, 14th, and 15th. In an event that will split time between Mylan Park and The Bridgeport Sports Complex, Salem will host Toronto, Johns Hopkins, Mount Saint Mary's, and WWPA East rival Mercyhurst.
After the home weekend, the Tigers head over to the Bucknell Invitational where they will face off with Saddleback, Wagner, and Augustana on September 21st and 22nd.
Then, Salem takes a short hiatus before returning for a pair of singles games on the road against Mount Saint Mary's and Navy on October 11th and 12th.
After that, Salem has their final weekend of non-conference play up at the Harvard Invitational where they will match up with Long Island, Chapman, Mount Saint Mary's, and Bucknell on October 19th and 20th.
The regular season for Salem concludes with a pair of WWPA conference play weekends. The Tigers head to Erie first on October 26th and 27th, and then they head over to Illinois on November 9th and 10th. The opponents on both weekends will be the WWPA east rivals Gannon, Mercyhurst, and McKendree.
Lastly, the postseason then kicks off for the Tigers on November 14th for the WWPA Championship Tournament hosted in Irvine, California.
