Box Score 4 SALEM, West Virginia- The Salem Tigers women's tennis team started out the season on February 22
nd at Ashland University. Salem since then has played in 5 matches and has a 3-2 record to open the season.
Ashland 4, Salem 3
Salem opened the tennis season at Ashland University on February 22
nd.
Dasha Korsakova and
Kate Korsakova secured the doubles victory by a 6-4 margin.
Kylie Diaz and Aishwarya also grabbed a win in the doubles portion of the match by a 6-3 score. However, it would be in the singles matches where Ashland was able to prevail winning 4 out of 6. Ashland defeated Salem by a narrow 4-3 margin.
Slippery Rock 6, Salem 1
In game 2, the Tigers traveled to Slippery Rock for a match on March 2
nd. Unfortunately, the Tigers couldn't get it going on the doubles dropping all 3 matches.
Kylie Diaz was able to secure a singles victory, but it would not be enough. Slippery Rock defeated Salem 6-1.
Salem 4, Millersville 3
For game 3, the Tigers traveled to Millersville for a match on March 7
th. Millersville would start off by winning 2 out of the 3 doubles contests. However, the Tigers would comeback in the singles matches.
Galia Mezouar,
Kylie Diaz,
Dasha Korsakova, and
Kate Korsakova all were able to take their singles match. Salem defeated Millersville by a final of 4-3.
Salem 4, Bloomsburg 3
In game 4, the Tigers headed to Bloomsburg for their next contest.
Galia Mezouar and
Erna Brdarevic opened things up winning the first doubles set.
Kylie Diaz and
Dasha Korsakova picked up the second doubles victory for the Tigers. Bloomsburg was able to win the third doubles contest. Both teams split the singles contest each winning 3 of them. Salem earned the 4-3 victory at Bloomsburg.
Salem 7, Shippensburg 0
For game 5, the Tigers played in their season home opener. This time the Tigers went up against Shippensburg University. The Tigers got off to a great start when
Erna Brdarevic and
Galia Mezouar picked up a 6-0 victory to start the doubles out. Salem was able to win both other doubles. Fortunately, the Tigers were able to keep that momentum rolling and sweep the singles matches as well.
After a good start, the Tigers are now headed to Hilton Head for the week where they will compete in matches until Friday.
