LORETTO, Pennsylvania - After a successful conclusion to conference play last time out, the Salem Tigers women's water polo team hit the road today to wrap up regular season play up at Saint Francis. Despite some strong play from the Tigers, Salem was unable to pick up the road victory over the Red Flash.
To open the contest, both teams traded goals throughout the first period to end the quarter at 3-3. Then, a Red Flash surge in the second put Salem down 9-3 going into the half. Salem made a valiant effort at a second half comeback, but it was simply too big a deficit to overcome for the Tigers. Therefore, Salem finished regular season play with the 19-10 loss.
Statistically, the Tigers were led in scoring by Milica Zelic, Lucy Bramwell, and Kristen Hemmila with 2 goals each. Defensively, Salem got 5 saves from Emily Low in goal.
Salem will next be in the pool at the WWPA Championships hosted in Morgantown, West Virginia beginning on April 25th.
