Results vs. University of Virginia at WiseSALEM, W.Va. (Oct. 11) – The Tigers dropped its first two matches of the 2015-16 season, falling 9-0 to West Virginia Wesleyan Saturday before being dealt an 8-1 loss by UVa.-Wise Sunday morning.
The Salem International University men's tennis team (0-2) played its first matches since 2009 when the program was dropped as a varsity sport. The team also debuted its
new tennis courts that were resurfaced and completed over the summer.
Freshman
Alex Werries (Jacksonville, Ill/Jacksonville) picked up the squad's first point of the year with a 7-5, 7-5 victory No. 5 singles over Noah Aldridge of UVa.-Wise in the Tigers 8-1 loss Sunday. Freshman
Landon Schultz-Zwahr (Needville, Texas/Needville) battled to a tiebreaker in the first set before bowing out at 7-6 (8-6), 6-2 at the No. 1 singles slot.
