HILTON HEAD ISLAND, South Carolina- Coming off the home opener, the Salem Tigers men's tennis team headed down south. The Tigers traveled to Hilton Head, South Carolina to participate in the spring games. The Tigers had three matches while in Hilton Head. Unfortunately, the Tigers left South Carolina winless.
Lafayette 7, Salem 0
In the first match, the Tigers went up against Lafayette College out of Pennsylvania. Salem would start out taking the first win in the doubles contest with
Daniel Paipa and
Pablo Guillen. However, in the other pair of doubles it would be Lafayette taking both matches. It would be Lafayette who had all the success once it got to the singles matches. Lafayette ended up defeating Salem.
DePauw 7, Salem 0Â
In match 2, the Tigers would go up against DePauw University. Unfortunately, the Tigers couldn't get much going in the doubles. DePauw would sweep the doubles contests. Salem had a chance to bounce back in the singles matches, but unfortunately DePauw would go onto do the exact same in the singles as well. DePauw defeated the Tigers in day 2 action.
Asbury 5, Salem 2
In the final match, Salem went up against Asbury University.
Pablo Guillen and
Daniel Paipa got the Tigers off to a great start winning 6-3. Roberto Ducoing and
Enrico Pucci would continue that success in the doubles winning by a score of 7-6. Paipa would continue that success into the first singles match winning in 3 sets. However, Asbury would sweep the remainder of the singles contests. Asbury defeated Salem 5-2 in the final day at Hilton Head.
Following the Hilton Head Spring Break, the Tigers return home to prepare for their next match. Which will occur on Thursday March 27
th at West Chester University of Pennsylvania.
