Box Score 3 SALEM, West Virginia- The Salem Tigers men's tennis team started off the season om February 22
nd. Since then, the Tigers have competed in 4 contests. Salem has a 1-3 start to open the season.
Salem 4, Ashland 3
As the Tigers opened the season, their first opponent was against Ashland University. During the doubles, Ashland got off to a solid start taking the 2-1 advantage. As we went into the singles,
Skander Mezouar was able to secure the first singles victory for the Tigers.
Elias Hort and
Pablo Guillen both picked up a singles victory.
Daniel Paipa rounded out the singles victory for the Tigers. Salem defeated Ashland 4-3.
Millersville 5, Salem 2
For game 2, the Tigers got off to a nice start winning 2 out of the 3 doubles matches that were played. Unfortunately, Millersville would almost sweep the singles matches.
Daniel Paipa secured the lone victory in the singles. Millersville ended up taking the home victory by a score of 5-2.
Bloomsburg 5, Salem 2
During game 3, Bloomsburg started off hot sweeping the Tigers in all 3 doubles contest.
Pablo Guillen did win a singles match for the Tigers in 3 sets. Unfortunately, the Tigers were unable to get anything else going in the matches. Bloomsburg defeated Salem 5-2.
Edwinsboro 6, Salem 1
In game 4, the Tigers made their season home opener this time against Edwinsboro University of Pennsylvania. Simon Browning and
Elias Hort were able to win a doubles match.
Enrico Pucci and Roberto Ducoing were able to keep that momentum going winning their doubles contest as well. Unfortunately, Edwinsboro would completely sweep the singles matches. Edwinsboro ended up defeating Salem 6-1.
After the first four games, the Tigers will now look to regroup and prepare for their next match. Their next matches will occur this week at the Hilton Head Spring Fest. The Tigers will compete in three games.
