ERIE, PA - The Salem International University Tigers water polo team finished the day 1-1 and placed second at the CWPA Division II Championships in Erie, Pennsylvania on Sunday, October 23. Salem had won 5 of its last 6 games coming into the tournament while averaging over 19 goals a game.
Tigers head coach
Robert Bullion received Coach of the Year honors after guiding Salem International to a 6-10 record during the regular season and
a second seed at the Regional Championships. The Tigers finished second in the Regional Regular Season. Freshman
Milos Popovic (Nis, Serbia) earned Rookie of the Year honors after having a break-out first season for the Tigers.
Game 1: Salem International University 15 – Gannon University 12
Salem found itself tied with Gannon 4-4 after the first period and trailing 8-7 after the completion of the second period. The Tigers used a five-goal fourth period to knock-off Gannon. Five different scorers found the back of the net for Salem International.
Djordje Stavrevski led all scorers with 4 goals.
Milos Popovic,
Marton Dudok, and
Robert Juhas each had three goals for Salem International.
Mateo Kozomara finished with 2 goals for the Tigers.

Game 2: Salem International University 5 – Mercyhurst University 10
Both teams would play the first period fairly even as Mercyhurst held a 3-2 lead. Salem would find itself trailing 6-3 heading into the third period. Salem International's
Robert Juhas led all scorers with 3 goals, while teammate
Inigo Velasco tallied a pair of goals for the Tigers.
The Tigers return to action next Saturday, October 29 and Sunday, October 30 in New York, New York. Salem International takes on Fordham on Saturday night at 7:30 p.m. in New York City and then makes the short trip to the Bronx on Sunday morning to battle Iona at 11 a.m.
