MONMOUTH, Ill. (Oct. 28, 2017) – The Salem University Tigers men's water polo ended its road trip with a loss, losing 15-16 to Mercyhurst University.
Seniors
Marton Dudok and Djordje Stevrevski led the team with four goals each, but the Tigers couldn't overcome a 5-2 deficit from the first quarter.
"As much as the lost hurts, I think it will be a good learning experience," Head Coach
Robert Bullion said. "It's shows if don't play our best, anyone can beat us."
Stevreveski scored thee off his four goals in the second quarter and Dudok scored three of his four in the fourth, including two in the last 30 seconds, as Salem's rally fell just short.
Goalie
David Romero had seven saves while
Milos Popovic, Chorro Marino and
Robert Juhas scored two goals each.
Petar Leontijevic scored one.
With the loss, the Tigers finish the regular season 10-12 and will enter the MWPC Western Region Championships as the third seed and will face sixth-seeded McKendree University. The Tigers are 2-0 versus McKendree this season.
