MONMOUTH, Ill. (Oct. 28, 2017) – The Salem University Tigers men's water polo team won both matches Saturday, scoring 22 in each to down McKendree University and Monmouth College.
Marton Dudok scored four goals and goalie
David Romero had 16 saves to lead the Tigers in a season sweep of McKendree University, winning 22-13.
Salem started the match strong, taking an 8-1 lead in the first quarter, with Dudok and
Marino Chorro scoring two goals each. Chorro,
Djordje Stavrevski and
Petar Leontijevic scored three goals each, and
Uros Jevtic,
Mateo Kozomara,
Milos Popovic and
Inigo Velasco had two each.
Chad Doerrman finished with one goal.
In the second match, Salem University defeated Monmouth College 22-12 with Dudok scoring five goals and Romero finishing with 14 saves. Kozomara and Jevtic scored three goals each; Stavrevsiki, Popovic, Chorro, Doerrman and Velasco scored two each.
Robert Juhas had one.
The Tigers will wrap up their regular season schedule tomorrow at 10 a.m. against Mercyhurst University with an opportunity to take the No. 2 seed in the MWPC Western Region Championships.
