COLUBMIA, S.C. (March 2, 2018) – On a beautiful, sunny day, the Salem University Tigers men's tennis team defeated Benedict University 6-3 to surpass last season's win total with most of the season left to play.
Salem started the day taking two of the three doubles matches, winning two singles matches outright, then taking two others due to injuries.
"The team played very well today in the hot and windy weather," Head Coach
Todd Tucker said. "My team is in very good shape. Everyday I make them run suicides until they can't breathe, and it paid off today in the Carolina heat. I love my guys' grit and determination.
"They love playing for Salem University and it shows on and off the court."
With the Tigers' first road victory, Salem improves to 4-6 on the season, surpassing last year's three-win total. Over the next week, Salem will be competing in the Hilton Heat Spring Fest. The Tigers begin with a match against Ferris State University on March 4.
