BUCKHANNON, W. Va. (March 24, 2018) – Facing the No. 37 ranked team in the country, the Salem University Tigers men's tennis team lost to the West Virginia Wesleyan Bobcats 9-0.
"We had to play the 37
th ranked team in the country without two starters due to disciplinary reasons, but the guys fought hard," Head Coach
Todd Tucker said. "I was proud of their effort."
The already shorthanded Tigers were even further depleted when
Patryk Garwacki had to retire his match due to injury. Working in the first spot, Garwacki lost the first set 7-5 and was going back and forth with Maycon Santos Dias in the second, down 3-2, before pulling out of the match.
With the loss, the Tigers drop to 5-11 on the season and 2-7 on the road. Salem will resume action on March 28 at Davis & Elkins College at 2 p.m.
