SALEM, W.Va. - The Salem University Tigers athletics department announced the hiring of Amanda Sartoris as the new head strength and conditioning coach.
Sartoris will begin her first year as the head strength and conditioning coach and will oversee, develop and monitor the strength and conditioning programs for all 17 varsity sports at Salem University.
Sartoris comes to Salem University from the IMG Academy where she worked as a physical conditioning coach. She was a performance coach for the tennis and baseball teams, while she also assisted in men's and women's basketball, men's and women's soccer and track and field.
She worked as a strength and conditioning graduate assistant at Illinois State University where she obtained a master's degree in kinesiology. While at ISU she designed and implemented training programs for men's and women's golf and tennis programs. She also assisted with women's basketball, softball, baseball, volleyball and women's soccer.
She earned her bachelor's degree in exercise science and had an impressive softball career as she played two years for the Heartland Community College softball program and was a member of the 2009 National Junior College Athletic Association (NJCAA) Division II National Championship team and earned All-America, all-region, and all-conference honors in 2009. She finished her playing career at the University of Louisiana-Monroe.
Sartoris comes to Salem with several certifications. She is a Certified Strength and Conditioning Specialist (CSCS) through the National Strength and Conditioning Association (NSCA), USAW-1 (sports performance coach) and USAW-2 (advanced sports performance coach) through the USA Weightlifting and is CRP/First-aid certified.
