ERIE, Pa. – The Salem University men's water polo team defeated Penn State Behrend 17-7 for its first win over a Mountain Pacific Sports Federation (MPSF) team in school history, Friday night.
In the first quarter, Salem led Penn State Behrend 2-1. The Tigers extended their lead to 8-3 heading into the half. Salem outscored Penn State Behrend 9-4 in the second half for the 17-7 victory.
The Tigers were led by junior
Milos Popovic and sophomore
Michael Rojas who each scored four goals, while junior
Salvador Orozco, sophomore
Petar Leontijevic, and senior
Inigo Velasco added in two goals each.
Freshman
Austin Kephart, sophomore
Uros Jevtic and junior
Robert Juhas notched one goal each.
Salem played well offensively and defensively, while they cycled their roster smoothly as the whole team contributed on the victory.
The Tigers are back in action tomorrow as they matchup against Gannon at 9:30 a.m. and La Salle at 2:00 p.m.
