ERIE, Pa. – The Salem University men's water polo team fell to Gannon 14-12 and defeated La Salle 12-11, Saturday at the Laker Invitational.
Game One.
In the first game, the Tigers fell to Gannon 14-12.
The Tigers were led by junior
Milos Popovic who recorded five goals.
Senior
Inigo Velasco and sophomore
Michael Rojas generated two goals each and sophomore
Petar Leontijevic, freshman
Mike Diaz and sophomore
Robert Juhas each added one goal.
Game Two
In the second game of the day, the Tigers edged Division I La Salle 12-11.
Popovic led the way notching five goals for the second time of the day.
Rojas and junior
Salvador Orozco scored two each, while Velasco, Leontijevic and Juhas added one goal each.
Salem battled and fought tough in the game, as the Tigers took nearly 40 shots.
The Tigers' defense stepped up and made two major stops in the last 1:30 of the game to hang on and preserve the win.
Salem is back in action Saturday as it travels to Lewisburg, Pa. for the Bucknell Invitational with a game against Washington and Jefferson at 1:45 p.m.
