CHARLESTON, W.Va. - The Salem University men's tennis team was edged by Charleston 4-3, Saturday evening.
Charleston is currently ranked No. 4 in the Atlantic Region as Salem is sitting at No. 7.
In doubles, UC took the point as it won two of the three matches. Freshman
Bartosz Losiak and Freshman
Andrzej Urjasz picked up the only win for Salem 6-1 as they defeated Andrews and Gracin.
In singles, Urjasz defeated Lokemen 6-2, 7-5 at No. 1, while Losiak downed Andrews 6-2, 6-0 at No. 4 and sophomore
Gregor Lainer defeated Prihep 6-2, 3-6, 6-4 at No. 5.
"It was a great match in a tough environment. The guys fought hard all night and we almost pulled off the upset," stated head coach
Todd Tucker on the match.
Salem is back in action Tuesday as it travels to Mercyhurst for a match at 11:00 a.m.
