ERIE, Pa. –The Salem University men's tennis team fell to a tough Mercyhurst team 5-2, Tuesday.
In doubles, Salem failed to pick up a win but played Mercyhurst tough in each match.
In singles, sophomore
Gregor Lainer defeated Schmedding 6-4, 6-1 at No. 5, while sophomore
Patryk Garwacki downed Pardo in a tough match 3-6, 6-1, 10-8 at No.4.
Freshman
Bartosz Losiak nearly defeated Gonzalez in singles but fell 3-6, 6-4, 6-7 at No. 3.
"My guys never gave up all day while fighting hard. We came up just short but our improvement from last year is tremendous. The guys certainly turned some heads today as Mercyhurst is a nationally ranked team and #2 in the region (Atlantic Region). Proud of my guys," exclaimed head coach
Todd Tucker.
The men's tennis team is back in action Saturday, March 2nd as it faces off against Daeman (N.Y.) in Charleston, W.Va. at 1:00 p.m.
