NORTH CANTON, Ohio – The Salem University men's tennis team started the season off strong with a 5-2 win over Walsh, Sunday.
Salem collected four singles wins and earned the doubles point.
At No. 3 singles, sophomore
Patryk Garwacki defeated Alex Medina 1-6, 6-0, 6-3, while freshman
Andrzej Urjasz picked up a win over Pedro Campos 7-6, 6-3 at No. 4 singles.
Freshman
Bartosz Losiak knocked off Joao Campos 6-4, 6-2 at the No. 5 spot, as sophomore
Gregor Lainer defeated Guilherme Carneiro 6-2, 4-6, 10-7 in the six spot.
For doubles, Lainer and Garwacki defeated Walsh's Clemens Wagner and Medina 6-3, while Losiak and Urjasz downed Filipp Kulynych and Tim Bruin 6-4.
"My guys are very resilient and are a tough bunch of players. I have been pushing them very hard and they have been pushing each other hard all season. It was nice to see them play another team and not against each other like every day. One thing was for certain is today and every day we are coming ready to play. Again, "Dr." Brent's staff does an amazing job getting us prepared every week," said head coach

The Tigers are back in action Sunday as they travel to play against West Virginia State at 4:00 p.m.
