Salem University has added two graduate assistants to its men's and women's cross country and track and field coaching staffs, it was announced by Tiger Director of Cross Country and Track and Field
Dan Meyers.
Kirsten Carrigan will work primarily in track and field operations and will also coach athletes in the jumps events, while
Dreshanae Rolle will serve primarily as the sprints and hurdles coach for the track and field teams. Carrigan and Rolle will also provide support for the Tiger men's and women's cross country teams.
Â
"The goal after year one was to not only build the roster, but to build the coaching staff as well," said Meyers, who enters his second year at Salem. "I believe we will have a dynamic coaching staff and it will allow myself to focus on recruiting, as well as focus on the coaching of the middle and long distance event groups."
Â
Carrigan, who will also serve as a graduate assistant in the Salem Athletics Department, is a graduate of St. Norbert College (Wis.). She was a six-time podium finisher in the pole vault in the Midwest Conference Track and Field Championships, as well as a two-time private college champion in the pole vault. An Academic All-Conference selection, Carrigan was part of St. Norbert's seven Midwest Conference team championships.
Â
"Kirsten has previously held internships in the athletic world that will help her adjust well to how we do things at Salem," said Meyers. Carrigan served as a multimedia coordinator and a strength and conditioning intern at St. Norbert and also performed a marketing and fan engagement internship at University of Arizona.
Â
Rolle is a graduate of University of Texas at El Paso and was a part of four Conference USA Women's Track and Field Championship teams. She was a silver medalist in the 400 meter hurdles and part of the silver-medal 4x400 relay team at the 2018 Conference USA Championship.
Â
"Dreshanae was an elite Division I athlete at UTEP," said Meyers. "Her background in the sprints and hurdle events will help develop a young, but talented roster and her influence coming from UTEP will a valuable asset to our program"
Â
Meyers added, "Kirsten and Dreshanae will be a great pair to help take our program to the next level."
