CAMBRIDGE, Massachusets - Today, the Salem men's water polo team went 1-1 in Cambridge, Massachusets at the Harvard invite. The boys opened up the day with a win against Connecticut College 21-10. Although the Tigers put up a good fight in their second game against St. Francis Brooklyn, they were unable to come away with a second win, the score showing 18-23.
Salem 21, Connecticut College 10

During their first game against Connecticut College the Tigers came out of the gate scoring 12 goals to Connecticut's 6. Their momentum in attacks kept going until the end of the game finishing off with a high score of 21 goals against 10.
Nikola Krstonosic led the Tigers in this game scoring a total of 9 goals for the tigers along with three steals.
Nikola Cvetkovic was behind with a total of 3 goals.
Marko Zivojinovic,
Blake Wind and
James Fenner all had a total of 2 goals each put 2 goals on the board.Â
Manuel Soto Estela and
Mitchell Griffith both added 1 goal to the score.
St. Francis Brooklyn 23, Salem 18

The real challenge of the day was game 2 for the Tigers, they were up against St. Francis Brooklyn who are currently ranked 20
th in the nation on the NCAA polls. Salem took this challenge head on and did not give St. Francis an easy game. After the first quarter on the game, the score was 3-2 to St. Francis. The Terriers creeped ahead on the score board stretching their lead to 5. the Tigers had several attempts to shorten the gap but the overall score was 23 – 18. Â
Nikola Krstonosic was close to matching his previous games goal count scoring 8 for the Tigers this game. he also added 3 assists and 2 blocks.
Chad Rowley and
Ivan Zivojinovic both added 3 goals to the board with Ivan also adding 2 assists.
Marko Zivojinovic tallied 2 goals, 3 assists and one steal.
Goncalo Silva also added 2 goals to the board.

Playing a close game like this against a team with St. Francis' ranking should give the boys some confidence for their own Division II Championship next weekend. Before they reach these games they have to go through Long Beach State and Brown Tomorrow at 9am and 3pm EST.
