OBERLIN, Ohio – This Weekend both men's and women's swimming competed in a 3 day meet at the Oberlin College invite. There was a total of 12 schools competing in the women's rankings and 11 in the men.

The tigers had a phenomenal first day in the pool, each side saw several school and personal records broken. The team rankings at the end of day showed the women coming in at 6
th place with a total of 204.5 points and the men ranked 3
rd overall with a total of 235 points. The next two days were also filled with many personal bests from the athletes, out of a total 47 swims over the 3 days the tigers had 39 PR times. Jaden Welsh led the tigers for the Women breaking 3 records total – she was 1
st in the 200 IM (2:09:66) which broke the school record, 1
st in the 100 Breastroke (1:05:24) which broke the school and meet record and lastly Welsh placed first in the 200 Breastroke which also broke a school and meet record. Cheyanne Rohde broke a 50-yard Freestyle school record that had stood for the past 24 years. The old record was 24:99, Rohde smashed that coming in at 24:48 which slotted her into 5
th place overall. Rhode also broke the school record for the 100-backstroke coming in at 58:33. Sofia Castillo placed 7
th overall in the 400 IM and 2
nd in the 200 Butterfly. The last record to be set was by the women's 400 medley relay. The girls took of a massive 5.4 second off the old record with a time of 4:02:15.

For the men,
Brady Samuels finished 1
st in the 50 Freestyle coming in at a personal best of 20:89. Samuels also placed 1
st in the 100 Butterfly and the 200 Butterfly breaking both meet and school records. Fernando Gomez came 6
th overall in the men's 200 yard IM with a time of 1:58:97, he also placed 3
rd in the 100 Breastroke and 2
nd in the 200 Breakstroke.
Greg Smith was not far behind him placing 14
th overall in the 200 IM with a time of 2:09:91. Smith also earned 5
th place in the 400 IM.
Jakub Husar placed 5
th in the 1650 Freestyle and 9
th in the 500 yard Freestyle with a time of 4:53:24,
Austin Kephart was closely behind him coming in 12
th with a time of 4:57:91. Zachary Bell rounded out the team placing 6
th in the 100 Freestyle, 7
th in the 200 Freestyle and 15
th overall in the 50 Freestyle with a time of 22:28.

This is a great weekend of swimming from our tigers, Coach
Rick Johnson said "to say this Mid-season was a success would not do it any justice. What a great 3 days of competition! I can't put into words how proud of them I am. Great swimming this weekend and excited for the Conference Championship." The tigers next meet will be on December 3
rd against UNC Pembroke in North Carolina.
