Box Score 4 SALEM, West Virginia - After opening the season up in Pennsylvania, the Salem men's tennis team featured one contest close to home, and four way down south in Florida. The Tigers got a win over West Virginia State at home in Vienna before they left, but fell 4 times in Florida, Those contests played out as follows:
Salem 6, West Virginia State 1
In the lone home game in this stretch, the Tigers met up with the West Virginia State Yellow Jackets for a contest at their home courts in Vienna. Salem got a great overall team performance as they swept through the doubles portion of the match, and dropped just one matchup in the singles portion. They got particularly strong play from Alesandro Fedeli and Daniel Paipa.
Rollins 7, Salem 0
A few days after the home win, the Tigers had their first matchup down in Florida against Rollins College. However, Salem would fall without scoring a team point despite close matchups from Tomas Acuna and Pablo Noya.
Embry-Riddle 6, Salem 1
In the next contest down south, Salem matched up with the Eagles of Embry-Riddle. In another tough matchup, Salem got their lone point in the singles portion of the contest from a strong performance by Alesandro Fedeli.
Eckerd 4. Salem 2
For the third contest in the Sunshine State, the Tiger's got their best team performance of the trip. They got individual wins in the singles portion of the event from Fedeli and Pablo Noya, and got a win in the doubles from pairing of Pablo Guillen and Daniel Paipa.
Flagler 7, Salem 0
In the final contest, Salem had another tough matchup. Tomas Acuna and Max Mueller kept things close in their individual matchups, and the partnership of Fedeli/Paipa lost a tight one in the doubles competition.
While the trip did not result in wins, it was a valuable chance for the Tigers to matchup against some of the best in the nation and develop experience for the whole team. They should be able to use that experience positively in their next matchup when they head up to Shepherdstown to take on the Shepherd Rams on March 9th at 11:30 AM.
