Salem Continues Spring Men’s Tennis Campaign

SALEM, West Virginia - After a trip down to Florida to match up with some talented competition, the Salem men's tennis team returned home in recent weeks to continue their spring campaign a little closer to home. Since returning home, the Tigers have competed 6 times, and pulled out an impressive 4 wins. All 6 contests played out as follows:

Salem 5, Emory & Henry 2

For the first contest after Florida, the Tigers hit the road to take on the Emory & Henry Wasps. Salem played well across the board to earn the 5-2 win. Pablo Noya and Daniel Paipa both played particularly well for the Tigers in their individual wins. 

Salem 5, Bluefield 2

For the nex contest, Salem met with the Bluefield University Rams for a matchup held at the Virginia Tech Tennis Courts in Blacksburg, Virginia. Salem fell behind early in the doubles competition, but they rebounded in the singles portion with strong performances from Max Mueller and Alesandro Fedeli. With the strong showing in the single side of the contest, Salem cruised to a 5-2 win over the Rams. 

Findlay 7, Salem 0

Next, Salem took on a tough matchup back home at the Greenmont Racquet Club against the Findlay Oilers. Unfortunately, Salem was unable to get on the scoreboard despite getting an individual win in the doubles competition from Fedeli/Muller. 

Salem 9, Marietta 0

In the next contest, Salem bounced back with a dominant performance against NCAA Division III opponent Marietta College. The Tigers controlled the contest from start to finish, and they got shutout performances from Eduardo Cama, Pablo Guillen, Pablo Noya, Roberto Sepulveda, Daniel Paipa, and Max Mueller

West Virginia Wesleyan 6, Salem 1

The next contest was another local road contest as the Tigers headed over to Buckhannon to take on the West Virginia Wesleyan. Unfortunately, Salem was unable to overcome the Bobcats, and fell by a score of 6-1.

Salem 5, West Chester 2

In the final contest of this portion of the season, Salem took on the West Chester Rams for a road contest. Salem swept through the doubles competition, and got some strong play from Daniel Paipa and Pablo Noya to seal the road victory over the Rams.

With adding 4 wins to their resume this season, the Salem men's tennis team is set to take on another local rival on the road. They are headed up to Fairmont to take on the Fairmont State Falcons at 1:30 PM on Sunday, April 2nd.
