Tiger Tennis Weekend Recap

PENNSYLVANIA - This past weekend the Tigers went on the road for back-to-back matches set against Millersville University in Millersville, PA, and Mercyhurst in Erie, PA.

MILLERSVILLE

The duo of Mezouar and Noya was first up for the Tigers as they took on Millersville in the first set of men's doubles. The Salem tandem was unable to get the win, falling with a final set score of 1-6. Following them was Salem's team of Guillen and Brauening who went down to the wire, but pulled out the set win in the end 6-4. Salem's final duo set of the day had Hort and Sepulveda representing the Tigers. The duo put up a good fight, but could not finish the comeback and dropped Salem's final doubles set 3-6.

Moving on to the singles set the Tigers had their work cut out for them. The Tiger squad battled against Millersville over six sets and kept with them throughout most of play. Unfortunately for the Tigers, they were only able to come away with one win to go 1-5 against Millersville in singles. Salem's win came from Mezouar.

MERCYHURST

The following day the Tigers traveled to Mercyhurst's home courts for their final match of the weekend. Salem was more on their game than had been the previous day in doubles sets. Mezouar and Noya took the court again for the Tigers and this time came out victorious with a 6-3 set win. Munoz and Guillen followed their win with a tightly fought set of their own which they were unable to win losing with a final set score of 4-6. The day's final doubles set had Hort and Brauening on the court for Salem. The two made quick work of Mercyhurst and secured a 6-2 win to take the edge in doubles play.

The success from doubles play did not seem to translate for Salem into singles. Once again the Tigers played six solo sets and this time won two of them. The two wins were claimed by Hort and Brauening who had already gotten a doubles win for the Tigers and made Salem 2-4 in singles play on the day.
