MORGANTOWN, West Virginia- The Tigers opened the weekend on Friday night taking on the University of Toronto at The Bridge Sports Complex. Then the Tigers traveled up to Morgantown where they played three games on Sunday to wrap up the weekend slate. The Tigers were able to win every contest and finish the weekend with an impressive 4-0 record.
Salem 18, Toronto 10
On Friday night the Tigers hosted the University of Toronto at The Bridge Sports Complex. In the early moments of the game Salem was able to get out to a quick 3-0 lead with two of those goals coming from
Danko Kesic. The rest of the first half the Tigers were able to outscore Toronto 6-5 as they held a 9-5 lead at halftime. In the second half, Salem took full control of the game as they outscored Toronto 9-5. The Tigers would end up defeating Toronto 18-10 with
Nikola Krstonosic leading the way with 7 goals.
Mateja Cerovic was able to tally an impressive 11 saves as well.
Salem 17, Mercyhurst 6
Early Sunday morning the Salem Tigers played Mercyhurst in the first game of the day at Mylan Park in Morgantown, West Virginia. In the first half, Salem was able to completely control the game getting out to a massive 10-1 lead heading into halftime. In the second half, Mercyhurst was able to get on the board with 6 goals of their own, but it wasn't enough as Salem took the win 17-6 win. The Tigers were able to get 4 goals each from
Marko Zivojinovic,
Ivan Petkovski, and
Danko Kesic.
Salem 15, Mount St. Mary's 9
The third game of the weekend was against Mount St. Mary's at Mylan Park at noon on Sunday. In the first half, the Mountaineers were able to get out to an early lead 3-1. However, Salem would strike back with an 8-0 run heading into the half with a 8-3 lead. In the second half, the Tigers were able to outscore the Mountaineers 7-6 leading the Tigers to their second win on the day.
Danko Kesic led the way for the Tigers on offense scoring 5 goals.
Salem 24, John Hopkins 10
In the final game of the Salem Invitational the Tigers would take on John Hopkins University on Sunday afternoon. The Tigers had complete control of this game as they led 13-3 going into halftime. In the second half, John Hopkins was able to get some offense rolling scoring 7 goals in the second half, but it wasn't enough as Salem would go onto win the game in dominating fashion by a score of 24-10.
Nikola Krstonosic led the way for the Tigers with an impressive 9 goals.
After an impressive weekend at the Salem Invitational, the Tigers will look to continue that success as they travel to Lewisburg, Pennsylvania next weekend to compete in the Bucknell Invitational.
