ALLIANCE, Ohio - Despite the winter weather, the Salem men's wrestling program spent the weekend battling with some of the toughest competition around at the University of Mount Union's Purple Raider Open in Alliance, Ohio. The Tigers performed well in the event, and picked up 8 individual bout wins in total.

The top two performances for the Tigers came from Kourdell Todd and Sean Johnson with both finishing the day 2-2 overall. First, Sean Johnson opened up his competition with a well-earned 7-1 win over Lake Erie College's Josh Howey, and later added a tough 13-7 win later in the tournament.

Kourdell Todd ended up with a similar day to his teammates'. He opened with a major decision win over Mercyhurst Josh Johnson-Cantrell, but fell in the second round of competition. After the loss, he rebounded to grind out a 5-0 win over another Mercyhurst Laker Joey Baronick.

On top of Johnson and Todd's solid performances, Riley Curran, Seth Holt, and Iran Love all earned individual wins in the event.

After this weekend, the Tigers' will be right back at it next weekend when they head up to Millersville, Pennsylvania to compete in the Millersville Duals on Saturday, January 25th.
