SALEM, W.Va. — The Salem University wrestling team dropped a dual match to Glenville State on Saturday, with the Pioneers claiming nine of the 10 contested weight classes.
Glenville State opened the night with bonus points at 125 pounds, as Colton Drousias secured a 15-0 technical fall over Ethan Moore at the 2:06 mark. The Pioneers extended their lead at 133, where Brady Layman pinned Fabian Rivera in 1:59, and again at 141, as Hunter Ross recorded a fall over Elijah Hunter at 6:55.
Glenville State continued to build momentum with forfeits at 149 and 157 before Roman Onorato earned a 10-6 decision over Seth Thomas in a competitive bout at 165 pounds.
At 174, Ethan Lopez added another technical fall (15-0, 2:06) over Clayton Downs, and the Pioneers followed with back-to-back pins at 184 and 197. Zachary Holstion secured a fall at 3:21 over Landon Ristoff, while Nicholas Johnson closed out the run with a pin of Iran Love at 5:43.
Salem picked up its lone victory of the evening at heavyweight, where Mikey Lytle earned a forfeit at 285 pounds.
