Wheeling mounted a push with bonus points at 174 and wins at 197 and 285, but Landon Ristoff's fall at 184 proved pivotal in maintaining Salem's cushion. The Tigers' ability to secure bonus points in key matchups ultimately made the difference in the eight-point victory.
Seton Hill 42, Salem 4
Salem faced a tough challenge against Seton Hill, as the Griffins built early momentum and never relinquished control in a 42-4 decision.
Seton Hill claimed the first five bouts of the dual, including three technical falls, a pin at 141, and a forfeit at 149 to quickly open a sizable lead. The Griffins continued to add to their total with wins at 165, 174, and 184.
The Tigers' highlight came at 197 pounds, where Iran Love delivered a dominant 15-1 major decision to put Salem on the board and prevent a shutout. Despite the final score, the Tigers continued to compete aggressively through the final whistle.
Salem's split on the day showcased the team's strength in the middle weights and its ability to generate bonus points in critical moments. The Tigers will look to build on that momentum as they continue conference competition.
