INDIANAPOLIS, Ind. — Salem University wrestling took on one of the deepest and most competitive Division II fields in the country this weekend at the 46th Annual Midwest Classic, hosted by the University of Indianapolis. The Tigers battled through large brackets filled with nationally ranked opponents, gaining valuable experience and collecting several match victories along the way.

Salem was led by Seth Holt (165), and Landon Ristoff (184), who each advanced in their respective weight classes.

165 – Holt Opens With First-Period Pin

Seth Holt started strong, recording a fall in just 50 seconds over Southwest Minnesota State's Wyatt Pollard to open his bracket. He closed the event with 3.0 team points.

184 – Ristoff Earns Bonus-Point Win

After a close decision in his opening match, Landon Ristoff responded with a dominant 12–4 major decision over Jamestown's Hayden Ramaeker in the consolation bracket, finishing with 2.0 team points.

Additional Tiger Performances

• 125 – Ethan Moore advanced twice via byes and competed through the third consolation round.

• 141 – Riley Curran received a bye into the second round and faced opponents from Chadron State and Wheeling.

• 174 – Seth Thomas advanced through two rounds via byes and wrestled into the third consolation round.

• 197 – Tashawn Coefield moved into the second consolation round after opening with a bye.

Building Through Elite Competition

The Midwest Classic consistently ranks among the toughest NCAA Division II tournaments of the season, and Salem used the event as a valuable developmental opportunity against top-tier competition.

The Tigers now shift focus back to dual action as they prepare for the next phase of the winter schedule.
