CANTON, Ohio- As the regular season came to an end, the Salem Tigers men's and women's swimming teams were ready to participate in the Mountain East Conference Championships. This event took place in Canton, Ohio where the Tigers would compete in many events across a four-day period.
On the women's side, the first standout performance for the Tigers came on event 10 when
Cheyanne Rohde placed in the top 10 in the 50 Yard Freestyle and had a time of 24.80.
Cheyanne Rohde had another impressive finish in event 13 in the 100 Yard Butterfly when she broke a record of her own with a time of 58:33.
Kiara Barnes had a top 15 finish of her own in event 15 in the 400 Yard IM. Later, Barnes had another top 15 finish when she placed 13
th in the 200 Yard Backstroke. Overall, the Tigers women finished 8
th during the tournament and finished with 288 points.Â
On the men's side,
Alvaro Arruga Moreno started things out placing 7
th in the 1000 Yard Freestyle with a time of 9:59.63.
Elias Maurer had a top 15 finish when he placed 13
th in the 50 Yard Freestyle with a time of 21.76.
Veer Kassan had an impressive 10
th place finish in the 400 Yard IM with a final time of 4:15.57.
Elias Maurer had the highlight of the tournament when he finished 4
th in the 200 Yard Freestyle. That time would lead all Mountain East Conference participates in the 200 Yard Freestyle with a time of 1:42.85. The Tigers had another good finish when Arruga Moreno placed 5
th in the 500 Yard Freestyle with a time of 4:43.31. The Tigers followed that up with another top 5 finish where they would place 4
th in the 800 Yard Freestyle with a time of 7:19.63. The Tigers men finished 7
th in the tournament with 500 total points.

Overall, the Tigers had some tremendous individual performances not only in this tournament, but throughout the season. The Tigers will look to build on these performances as they closeout the tournament season and prepare to take it to another level in the future.Â
