HILTON HEAD ISLAND, South Carolina- Following the season home debut, the Salem Tigers women's tennis team traveled down to South Carolina for the Spring Fest. The Tigers would participate against three other teams while down at Hilton Head. The Tigers looked to leave South Carolina with some wins, and they were able to do just that taking 2 out of 3 matches on the week.
Lafayette 5, Salem 2
In match 1, Salem went up against Lafayette College. The Tigers got out to a good start in the first doubles contest.
Erna Brdarevic and Mezouar earned the victory in the first contest. However, Lafayette would answer back winning both other doubles matches. Dasha and
Kate Korsakova were both victorious in their singles match. However, Lafayette would take the other remaining matches. Lafayette defeated Salem 5-2 on the first day.
Salem 5, DePauw 2
For the second match, Salem would go face to face with DePauw University. DePauw would win the first doubles contest. However, the Tigers would be successful in the next two doubles matches. The Tigers would keep that momentum rolling into the singles matches when
Kylie Diaz,
Dasha Korsakova,
Kate Korsakova, and
Salome Molina all won their individual match. Salem defeated DePauw 5-2 in the second match at the Hilton Head Fest.
Salem 4, Kalamazoo 3
In the final match, Salem faced off against Kalamazoo College. Kalamazoo would get off to a big start by sweeping all the doubles. Fortunately, Salem would strike back by taking most of the singles matches. Aishwarya Prasad,
Kylie Diaz,
Dasha Korsakova, and
Kate Korsakova all won their singles match. Salem ended up defeating Kalamazoo by a narrow 4-3 victory.
After a good Hilton Head Spring Break, the Tigers returned home to prepare for their next contest. Salem will head to West Chester for their next contest on March 27
th.
